Alright, folks, I see this question pop up every year, so let’s set the record straight:
National Girlfriend Day is celebrated annually on August 1st.
It’s not to be confused with National Boyfriend Day (October 3rd) or Valentine’s Day (February 14th). Those are separate occasions.
National Girlfriend Day is generally seen as a day to appreciate the female friends in your life, your “gal pals,” as well as romantic partners. It’s a day for women to celebrate their bonds with other women.
While some consider it specifically for romantic partners, the original intent was broader, encompassing female friendships. So, whether you’re celebrating your best friend, sister, or significant other, August 1st is the day.
Don’t overthink it. A simple text, a phone call, or spending some quality time together is a great way to acknowledge the day.
